ROCKY POINT – Heide Trask outscored East Bladen 22-5 in the final quarter to bust open a 2-point game and win a battle of Waccamaw Conference unbeatens 66-47 Wednesday night.

Freshman Gio Driggers dropped in a pair of lay-ups, and senior Martez Davis bottomed a 3-point shot as the Titans opened the quarter with an 8-0 run to boost the margin to 52-42. A pair of technical fouls was then whistled on the Eagle coach, and Titan senior Myron McKoy made 4 straight free throws at the 5:25 mark for a 56-42 lead.

East junior Dominick Collins flipped in a reverse lay-up to snap the run then buried a 3-ball in the closing minute for the final Eagle points. Junior Sherrod Henderson rang up 5 of his 13 points for Trask in the final 4 minutes.

Davis threw in a trio of 3-point shots and led the balanced Trask attack with 16 points. Senior Bradford Bannerman and Driggers finished with 11 points each for the Titans, and McKoy added 10 points.

Collins sparked the Eagles with a game-high 22 points, 5 assists and 3 rebounds. Sophomore Keyshawn Kemp posted a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Lee Barnes fired in 10 points and grabbed 6 rebounds for East.

Sophomore Ronnie Covington pulled down 6 rebounds for the Eagles. Senior Rodney Lacewell snagged 4 rebounds, and senior Peyton Tatum and junior Kewone Maynor collected 3 rebounds each.

Collins banked in a short jumper, sent an assist to Covington for a lay-up then drove for a lay-up in the 1st period, but McKoy and Davis answered with 3-balls as the Titans forged a 15-6 lead.

Collins bombed in a 3-ball and assisted on a Kemp lay-up. Lacewell popped in a free throw, Barnes nailed a 3-point shot, and Collins netted 2 free throws, but 10 points from Davis kept Trask up 24-16.

Two Collins free throws began the 2nd quarter. Collins drained a 3-point shot then sent an assist to Lacewell for a lay-up. Kemp pounded in a follow shot, and Collins scored on a goaltending call, but the Titans held on to a 31-27 lead at halftime.

Collins flipped in a lay-up then delivered an assist to Kemp for a lay-up, but 2 baskets from Bannerman and a Davis 3-ball stretched the Trask lead to 42-31.

Barnes rallied the Eagles with a 3-pointer and a follow shot. Kemp converted assists from Collins and Maynor into lay-ups, and Lacewell dropped an assist off to Barnes for a short bank shot that sliced the Titan lead to 44-42 at the break.

The Eagles, now 3-1 in league play and 8-5 overall, will host West Columbus Friday night. Trask sits atop the Waccamaw with a 3-0 league record and 9-4 overall mark and will visit South Columbus Friday night.
