ST PAULS – St. Pauls held a 54-34 lead over East Bladen Friday night when the game was suspended with 5:26 left on the clock due to a very slippery floor. No completion date has been set at this time.
Senior Anthony Campbell threw in a trio of baskets and 4 free throws as the Bulldogs raced to an early 14-2 lead. Juniors Charles Brown and RaSean McKoy drained 3-point shots to rally the Eagles. McKoy turned a steal into a lay-up then dropped in another lay-up off of a Brown assist to pull the Eagles to within 19-12 at the quarter break.
Brown and junior Lefrederick Wooten drove for lay-ups, and junior Zach Meares buried a 3-point shot to tie the game 19-19. The Bulldogs capitalized on Eagle turnovers for 3 lay-ups, but Meares nailed another 3-pointer to keep the Eagles within 25-22 at halftime.
Waltay Jackson keyed a 10-0 run with a 3-point shot and a lay-up as the Bulldogs opened up a 35-22 lead. Brown halted the run with a baseline jumper, and McKoy, Wooten and Tayshaun Berkeley dropped in lay-ups as the Eagles rallied to within 35-30.
Two baskets by Caleb Henderson and a 3-point play by Emonta Smith pushed the St. Pauls lead to 44-32 at the quarter break. A 10-2 St. Pauls run began the fourth quarter and extended the lead.
RaSean McKoy led the Eagle scoring with 11 points. Brown followed with 7 points, and Meares added 6 points.
Campbell paced the St. Pauls scoring with 10 points. Jackson followed with 9 points, and Henderson and Josh McNair tallied 8 points each.
East Bladen will host East Columbus Tuesday night.
