BLADENBORO – Freshman Hezekiah Adams and senior Keshawn Ballard combined for 23 points to lead West Bladen to a 53-38 non-conference boys’ basketball victory over East Columbus Tuesday night.

Adams topped the Knight scoring with 12 points, and Ballard was right behind him with 11 points. Sophomore Malachi Allen pumped in 9 points, and sophomore Landon Stanley racked up 8 points. Senior Josiah Brown added 6 points.

Ballard and Adams keyed a 20-5 Knight blitz in the opening quarter. Ballard threw in 2 baskets and 2 free throws, and Adams dropped in a pair of buckets. Stanley drained a 3-point shot, and Allen sank a basket and a free throw.

The Knights unleashed a 3-point barrage in the 2nd period that stretched their lead to 34-14. Adams, Stanley, Allen and Ballard all fired in 3-balls in the quarter, and Adams and senior Javonta Matthews made foul shots.

Allen popped in a basket and a free throw in the 3rd quarter, and Allen, Adams and Stanley netted baskets to keep the Knights ahead 41-22 at the quarter break.

Brown scored all 6 of his points for West Bladen in the final period. Adams, Ballard and junior Gary Parker contributed a basket each in the quarter.

Senior Jaquan Radford led all scorers in the game with 15 points for the Gators.

Coach Travis Pait’s Knights improved to 2-0 and will travel to Lakewood Wednesday night.
