BLADENBORO –Sophomore Hezekiah Adams drilled in a pair of 3-point shots to spark a 13-2 West Bladen 4th quarter run that propelled the Knights to a 60-53 non-conference boys’ basketball victory over North Brunswick Tuesday night.

Junior Malakhi Daniel who led all scorers with 22 points for the Scorpions trimmed the Knight lead to 42-40 with a lay-up to begin the final quarter, but Adams knocked down a 3-pointer from the left wing.

Freshman Tylik McCall sank 2 free throws, and junior Andre Moore pulled up for a 12-footer and a 49-40 lead. Adams bombed in another 3-ball from the right wing, and after Aaron Smith’s lay-up for North, McCall drained a 3-ball from the left corner to push the lead to 55-42 with 3:42 left to play.

Freshman Jackson Pait, Moore and senior Walter Bealon hit free throws, and 6-7 sophomore Chase Williams dribbled through the Scorpion press for a lay-up with a minute left. North never was closer than the final margin.

Adams led the balanced Knight attack with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals. Williams dropped in 12 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and blocked 3 shots. Moore finished with 11 points and 5 rebounds. McCall followed with 10 points, and Pait totaled 6 points.

“We have a bunch of kids that can play,” said West Bladen Coach Travis Pait. “All of them can score. We played well. That is the best pressing team that we have played, and we held up to it very well. I am certainly happy with them.”

Adams started the game with 2 free throws, a corner 3-ball and a lay-up that he switched hands on in midair. Bealon splashed in a 3-ball, Williams pumped in a 16-footer and Pait buried a deep 3-ball for a 15-9 lead at the quarter break.

Williams and Adams kept West on top in the 2nd period with lay-ups, before Moore delivered a pair of 3-point shots, and Williams sent an assist to Adams for a lay-up and a 27-25 halftime lead.

McCall opened the 2nd half with a corner 3-ball. Williams worked the paint for 2 lay-ups – 1 off of an Adams assist. Pait popped in an elbow jumper, and Moore canned a long 2-ball for a 40-32 lead. McCall flipped in a 1-handed runner for a 42-34 lead.

West Bladen improved to 5-0 and will visit West Columbus Friday night.
