WHITEVILLE – Senior Antonio McFadden and junior Wendell Smith sparked a 38-19 3rd quarter rally that propelled Whiteville to a 99-92 Three Rivers Conference boys basketball victory over West Bladen Friday night.

The Knights enjoyed a 41-34 halftime lead, but McFadden and Smith fired in 12 points each as Whiteville surged to a 72-60 lead.

Senior ShyRon Adams threw in 3 baskets and 3 free throws for West in the 3rd quarter. Josh Lewis tossed in a pair of baskets, and Keshaun Ballard, Javonta Matthews and Deonte Lacey dropped in a basket each.

Donovan Stone bombed in a trio of 3-point shots and another basket for the Knights in the final period. Matthews sank 3 free throws and 2 baskets, and Adams nailed a 3-point shot and a free throw. Josiah Brown drained a 3-point shot, Lacey banged in a basket, Gary Parker canned 2 free throws, and Ballard hit one as West racked up 32 points in the quarter.

McFadden and senior K. J. Hall scored 8 points each in the 4th quarter to keep Whiteville on top. Junior Christian Rorie tallied 7 points in the period.  McFadden topped the Wolfpack scoring with 29 points, and Smith followed with 24 points. Hall finished with 18 points.

Adams pumped in 21 points to lead the Knight scoring. Matthews racked up 13 points, and Stone totaled 11 points. Lewis contributed 10 points, and Landon Stanley and Anthony Mitchell chipped in with 9 points each.

Mitchell buried a pair of 3-point shots in the opening quarter, and Adams drilled in a 3-ball and another basket. Ballard knocked down a 3-point shot, and Lewis and Matthews added a basket each to keep West Bladen within 19-18. Eight points from Smith edged Whiteville ahead.

Stanley blistered the nets with a trio of 3-point shots in the 2nd quarter. Adams and Mitchell buried 3-point shots, and Brown popped in a pair of baskets. Matthews and Lewis netted a basket each as the Knights built their 41-34 halftime lead.

The Knights will visit West Columbus Tuesday night.
