WHITEVILLE – Junior Trinity Smith, senior I’Reona Johnson and sophomore Mauricia Bennett combined for 37 points Friday to lead Whiteville to a 48-23 Three Rivers Conference girls basketball victory over West Bladen.

Bennett tossed in 8 of her 12 points in the opening quarter as the Lady Wolfpack grabbed an early 15-3 lead. Johnson scored 5 of her 12 points in the 1st period. Smith poured in all 13 of her points in the 2nd period as the lead grew to 28-7.

Sophomore Rylee Chadwick popped in 2 baskets in the opening half for West Bladen, freshman Brooke Singletary dropped in a basket, and sophomore Makayla Wright canned a free throw. Wright and Chadwick tossed in baskets in the 3rd quarter, and Singletary netted a free throw.

Chadwick threw in 2 baskets in the final period and led the Lady Knights with 10 points. Freshman Megan Pait nailed a 3-point shot, freshman Mallory Bryan pumped in a basket, and Wright and junior Hannah Pait sank free throws. Wright finished with 4 points.

The Lady Knights, now 2-2 in league play and 4-3 overall, will travel to West Columbus Tuesday.
