As motorists made their way to work on Thursday morning, they may have noticed film crews hard at work on the sidewalk in front of Bridgers’ Barbershop. The Lighthouse Film Company, based in Wilmington, is spending the day filming scenes for the production of “Long Drive to Yadkin” both on the sidewalk and inside Bridgers’ Barbershop.

According to Producer Shon Blotzer, the film is a dark comedy about a man who is driving to Yadkin and he decides to stop at a barbershop along the way. The short film features a barber who finds himself in an “existential crisis once he realizes his last customer of the day has died in the middle of a haircut.”

Russ Bridgers, who operates Bridgers’ Barbershop, said, “Parrish (Stikeleather) is the director, and he was looking for an old time barber shop.”

Bridgers said when Stikeleather approached him; they were searching for a barbershop with an “old-fashioned look.” Bridgers said, as he and Stikeleather conversed, he was asked if the crew could film the barbershop scenes in his shop. Bridgers gave his permission to the film crew, and arrangements were made for filming to take place on Thursday.

Stikeleather said the film is a small budget short film. He also noted that The Lighthouse Film Company plans to submit the film into both local and national film festivals.
