WILMINGTON – The Carolina Bengals won their first game ever Saturday night as they dominated the Wilson 49ers 38-0 at Legion Stadium.

Antonio Locklear ran for 2 touchdowns and a 2-point conversion, and quarterback Jimmy Gainey threw for a touchdown and a 2-point conversion and ran for a touchdown.

Locklear bolted 25 yards up the middle for the first Bengal touchdown. Gainey tossed the conversion pass to a wide-open Kendrick Gillespie for an 8-0 lead.

Former West Bladen star Daquan Lennon hauled in a 30-yard touchdown pass from Gainey, and Locklear squirted through the line for the conversion and a 16-0 Bengals 1st quarter lead.

Fullback Isaiah Young bulled into the end zone from 3 yards out for a 2nd quarter touchdown that pushed the lead to 22-0 at halftime.

Locklear scooped up a teammate’s fumble and scooted around left end on a 3-yard touchdown run in the 3rd period. Gainey found Gillespie again with the conversion pass that grew the lead to 30-0.

Gainey closed out the Bengal scoring with a 5-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

The Bengals have an open date next week before traveling to Fayetteville on Aug. 21st to play the Commandos.
