D. J. Mason Scores 16 In Campbell Win At CharlotteWest Bladen grad D. J. Mason posted a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds as his Campbell Camels rolled past Johnson & Wales 87-53 Wednesday night in Buies Creek.

Mason connected on 5 of 8 shots from the field, dished out 4 assists and added one steal and one blocked shot.  The Clarkton native dropped in a lay-up to start the game then sent a pass to Chris Clemons for a 3-point basket and a 5-2 Campbell lead.

The 6-6 senior sank a free throw then slammed in a dunk for a 16-8 Camel lead. Mason grabbed an offensive rebound and fed teammate Khadre Lane for a lay-up and a 39-14 lead.

Mason tipped in a rebound then dropped in a lay-up for a 46-25 Campbell halftime lead. Another Mason lay-up 2 minutes into the second half stretched the lead to 54-30.

The Camels raised their record to 6-3 and will host The Citadel Saturday at 2 p.m.
