Dixie Youth BaseballCLARKTON –Elizabethtown pounded out 20 hits and rolled past Columbus County 18-0 Saturday night in the opening round of the District 2 Dixie Youth Baseball Coach-Pitch Supplemental Tournament at the Clarkton DYB Complex.

Elizabethtown maxed out the 7-run per inning rule in both the first and second innings. Omar Powell slammed a double, and DeVance Tatum drove him in with a single to begin the first inning. Niyah Wooten hammered a double that plated Tatum, and Cade Rogers cracked a single that scored Wooten.

Wilson Clifton smashed a double that brought home Rogers, and Seth Faircloth knocked in Wilson Clifton with a single. Walker Clifton drilled a double that plated Faircloth, and Aiden Williams walloped a triple that scored Walker Clifton with the seventh run.

Jackson Hair and Cooper Long smacked singles to start the second inning. Powell connected for a single that scored Hair, and Tatum followed with a single that plated Long. J. D. McArthur slapped a single that brought home Powell, before Wooten blasted a 3-run homer that scored Tatum and McArthur.

Rogers, Wilson Clifton and Faircloth laced back-to-back-to back singles that scored Rogers.

Fox Sutton, Williams, Hair, Long and Powell began the third inning with five straight singles that scored Sutton, Williams and Hair. McArthur delivered a single that scored Long with the final run of the game.

Powell batted a perfect 3-3 with a double to lead the Elizabethtown hit parade. Williams finished 2-2 at the plate with a triple. Wilson Clifton batted 2-2 with a double. Rogers, Faircloth, Hair and Long also turned in perfect 2-2 games at the plate.

Wooten batted 2-3 with a home run and a double, McArthur and Tatum also finished 2-3 at the plate, and Sutton had the other Elizabethtown hit.

Elizabethtown will play Whiteville Sunday at 6:30 p.m. in the second round of the tournament.
