RIEGELWOOD – Elizabethtown advanced to the championship game of the District 2 Dixie Youth Baseball Majors Supplemental Tournament with an 11-4 victory Sunday night over Columbus County.
Elizabethtown will play the winner of Monday’s Columbus County/Whiteville game Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the title game.
A quartet of Elizabethtown pitchers – Jake Futrell, Hunter Smith, Donovan Burton and Andrew Horne – combined to pitch a 6-hitter and only walked one batter.
Jacob Nixon belted 3 hits to lead the Elizabethtown hitters. Teammates Carson Green and Lee Barnes connected for 2 hits each. Zee Lewis, Parker Greene, Elijah Cain and Futrell contributed one hit each.
Britt Sasser blasted a 3-run homer over the leftfield fence for the other Elizabethtown hit.
