CERRO GORDO –Whiteville defeated Elizabethtown 14-0 Sunday in the opening round of the District 2 Dixie Youth Baseball Majors Supplemental Tournament.
Tredon Scott and Noah Hall belted one hit each for Elizabethtown.
Whiteville capitalized on 2 errors, 2 walks and 3 hit batters to score 5 runs in the first inning. Two walks, two hit batters and 2 hits produced 4 more Whiteville runs in the second.
“We made a couple of errors in the first inning, then couldn’t throw strikes,” said Elizabethtown Coach Kevin Dunham. “We never could get our bats going.”
Elizabethtown will play Columbus County at 7 p.m. Monday.
