ELIZABETHTOWN – Pitcher Destin Montgomery knocked in the go-ahead run as the Royal defeated the Navy 3-1 Friday night in Bladen Recreation Dixie Boys Baseball action at County Park.
The two teams were tied 1-1 when Coleman Tatum dumped a single off the shortstop’s glove. Montgomery ripped a double down the leftfield line that scored Coleman Tatum.
Garrison Tatum belted a drive to right-centerfield that fell between a pair of Navy outfielders and scored Montgomery.
Montgomery started on the mound and worked into the fourth inning, before being relieved by Nyquan Richardson. Tatum relieved Richardson in the fifth, and Raymond Autry struck out the side in the seventh inning.
Brycen Blackmon started on the hill for the Navy and was relieved by Alex Strange in the fourth inning.
