ELIZABETHTOWN – C.J. McCracken and Jaxon Hair teamed up to pitch a no-hitter and strike out 13 batters as the Tar Heels defeated the Braves 3-1 Friday night in Dixie Boys Baseball action.

McCracken pitched the 1st 5 innings striking out 12, walking 4 and giving up an unearned run. Hair worked a 1-2-3 6th inning in relief and struck out 1 batter.

Jamari Adams led off the 1st inning for the Tar Heels with a single, stole a base, advanced on an infield out then stole home for a 1-0 lead.

Gavin Brisson reached base on an error in the Braves’ 2nd inning, stole 2 bases and scored on a balk to tie the game 1-1.

Jayden Byrd and Javonte Smith drew walks to start the Tar Heels 2nd inning and raced home when Dawson Edwards hammered a double for a 3-1 lead.

Edwards’ 2-run double led the Tar Heel attack. Adams, Fox Sutton and Omar Powell smashed singles for the Tar Heels. Adams, Byrd and Smith scored runs.

Devan Stanley started on the mound for the Braves and pitched 1-plus innings allowing 3 runs on 2 hits and 4 walks. Andrew Wren pitched 4 innings of scoreless 2-hit relief and struck out 7 batters.

The Tar Heels improved to 2-0 with the win. The Braves are now 2-2.
