East Bladen High School Principal Dr. Jason Wray was recognized Friday night by the school’s athletic department on his final day at the school.

In January, Wray will become the superintendent of Paul R. Brown Leadership Academy in Elizabethtown. The school is North Carolina’s only public charter military school. Wray has been East Bladen’s principal since 2015.

Friday’s ceremony was held between the girls’ and boys’ basketball game. East Bladen coaches and basketball players presented Wray with the Eagle Trophy.

Here is a statement from the athletic department that was read during the recognition.

“Dr. Wray’s last day as principal, mentor, father figure and friend for East Bladen was today. He has accepted a job as superintendent at Paul R. Brown Academy. Dr. Wray, thank you for all of your leadership and support to East Bladen’s students, teachers, parents, coaches and community. You will be missed!”
