East Bladen High SchoolEast Bladen opened their 2015 football season Wednesday night with a pair of scrimmages in the 2nd Annual CoastalPreps.com Coastal Clash at South Brunswick.

The Eagles initial scrimmage was against North Brunswick, and junior Kyle Tatum raced 40 yards for an East Bladen touchdown. The Eagles drove down close on another possession, but fumbled at the goal line.

North Brunswick scored one touchdown and had another touchdown called back by a penalty.

“We started out slow, but got better as we got into it,” said East Bladen Coach Robby Priest. “North is a pretty even match-up for us. We have got some things to get straight on, but the film will show us what we need to work on.”

The Eagles then turned around and immediately scrimmaged Class 4-A Wilmington New Hanover. “We marched down the field and scored on them,” said Coach Priest.

Junior Eian Hines scored the first of his two touchdowns against New Hanover to cap the drive. His brother, Ethan Hines, had a touchdown called back against the Wildcats.

New Hanover scored four touchdowns in the scrimmage. “They are pretty good,” said Coach Priest. “They had more coaches than we had players.”

The Eagles will be back in action tonight at 6 p.m. in the Battle of the Carolinas at Lumberton High against Latta, SC.
