ELIZABETHTOWN – Unbeaten East Bladen, the Three Rivers Conference girls’ soccer champion, will host Carrboro Friday at 6 p.m. in the NCHSAA Class 2A Eastern Regional semifinals.

Spectators will use the second entrance of the school. The ticket booth will be on the side of the school near the auxiliary gym. Admission is $7.

Coach Jay Raynor’s Lady Eagles (14-0) are led by record-setting junior Maya McDonald, who has scored more goals (98) in her career than any other Eagle, male or female. McDonald has scored 57 goals this season and dished out 11 assists.

McDonald has recorded ‘Hat Tricks’ in both of the Lady Eagles playoff wins. Monday, the speedy junior fired in 3 goals in a 4-2 victory over Durham School of the Arts. Wednesday, McDonald pounded the back of the net with 5 goals in a 7-0 East Bladen win over South Columbus.

Senior midfielder Katie Evans leads East Bladen in assists (23) and steals (337), and has fired in 18 goals in just 14 games. Senior Sara Gargala anchors the Lady Eagle defense with 334 steals. Sophomores Acee Campbell (261 steals) and Cydney Campbell (243 steals) both scored goals against South Columbus.

Freshman Zoe Smith has racked up 223 steals for East Bladen, and senior Joesphina Torres is the team’s 3rd leading scorer with 9 goals. Senior Lily Lin has recorded 59 saves in goal for the Lady Eagles and has posted 9 shutouts in 14 games.

Carrboro (11-2-1) won the Mid State Conference with an 8-0 record. The Lady Jaguars beat Durham School of the Arts 7-0 and 9-0 in their 2 match-ups this season.

Senior Sarah Wesley leads the Carrboro attack with 17 goals and 8 assists. Freshman Julia Spang has scored 11 goals. Senior Lucy McDaniels has recorded 36 saves in goal for the Lady Jaguars, and senior Savannah DePaz has posted 20 saves.
