ELIZABETHTOWN – East Bladen’s Eagles will open the 2021-2022 football season Friday when they entertain perennial power Wallace-Rose Hill. Game time is 7 p.m. at Lenon Fisher Stadium.

Coach Robby Priest’s Eagles were the only team in the Three Rivers Conference to play all of their 7 scheduled games last season but with the limited playoff schedule due to COVID-19 only 2 teams from the TRC made the playoffs. East Bladen finished 3rd in league play with a 5-2 record.

The Eagles have been impressive in their preseason scrimmages this year featuring a solid running game and a stout defense. The ground game features seniors Corey Ballard, Javius Brooks, Tim McLean and Nazire Smith, and junior Nyquan Richardson. Senior Ahmad Powell took most of the snaps at quarterback in the scrimmages.

Wallace-Rose Hill finished with a 5-4 record in the spring season. The Bulldogs defeated TRC runner-up Red Springs 65-28 in their first round playoff game before losing to eventual state champion Reidsville 49-15 in the 2nd round.
