East Bladen’s Lady Eagles travel to Holly Ridge Saturday to play Dixon in a second round NCHSAA Class 2A Girls Soccer Play-off game. Gametime is 1 p.m.
Senior Justyna Gargala fired in 3 goals in East Bladen’s play-off opening 4-1 win over North Pitt Wednesday. Freshman Patience Ward scored the first Lady Eagle goal against North Pitt.
Coach Jay Raynor’s Lady Eagles are 16-4 on the season and are led by Gargala (28 goals; 15 assists), junior Hannah Devane (21 goals; 24 assists) and sophmore Ashley Hardin (10 goals and a whopping 42 assists).
Sophore Ting Lin has recorded 8 shutouts and 58 saves in goal for East Bladen. Lin has a 13-4 record in goal.
Dixon (19-2-1) is the No. 4 seed in the Eastern bracket. The Bulldogs pounded Southern Vance 9-0 in their first round game. Junior Brittany Silance and freshman Sadie Thomas scored 3 goals each and dished out 3 assists each to lead Dixon.
Freshman Amanda Fretwell leads the Dixon scoring with 23 goals. Silance has scored 19 goals and totaled a team-high 20 assists. Junior Hailey Russell has dished out 13 assists.
Senior Danielle Acree has recorded 14 shutouts, 66 saves and an 18-0-1 record in goal.
