East Bladen’s Lady Eagles will make the 260-mile journey to Barco Monday for their opening round game in the NCHSAA Class 2A Softball Playoffs against the Currituck County Lady Knights. Game time is 6 p.m.

Coach Chris Davisson’s Lady Eagles (7-6) won 7 of their last 9 games to tie West Bladen and Whiteville for 2nd place in the Three Rivers Conference. East Bladen drew the No. 3 seed in the tie-breaking draw and were awarded the No. 16 seed in the Class 2A East. Five of the Lady Eagle losses were to teams that are in the playoffs.

Currituck County won the Northeastern Coastal 2A Conference with a perfect 8-0 record and are 10-3 overall. The Lady Knights, the top seed in the Class 2A East, lost twice to undefeated Camden County and once to Manteo.

Sophomore Karli Priest leads the East Bladen hitters with a .469 average, 18 runs scored and 14 runs batted in. Sophomore Laura Davisson follows with a .442 average, a team-high 22 RBIs, 18 runs scored, 5 doubles, 2 triples and a home run. Junior Mariah Smith has knocked in 11 runs and is batting .389.

Senior Kayleigh Raynor has slammed 8 doubles and 2 triples and is hitting at a .377 clip with 17 runs scored and 8 RBIs. Sophomore Emma Turbeville is batting .320 with 15 runs scored, 8 RBIs and a home run. Senior Alyssa Futrell has driven in 14 runs, scored 9 and is batting .277. Senior Carlie West bats at a .278 clip.

Raynor has struck out 57 batters in 8 games, has a 3-4 record with one save and sports a 3.36 earned run average.
