West Bladen’s Lady Knights will travel to Ramseur Monday night to battle Eastern Randolph in the opening round of the NCHSAA Class 2A Softball Playoffs. Game time is 7 p.m.
Coach Pam Stephens’ Lady Knights (10-4) edged East Bladen 2-1 Thursday night to tie East Bladen and Whiteville for 2nd place in the Three Rivers Conference then won the drawing for the No. 2 seed on Friday. The Lady Knights received the No. 11 seed in the Class 2A East and will face the No. 6 seeded Wildcats (13-1).
Abigail Madden leads the West Bladen hitters with a .660 average, 29 runs scored, 12 runs batted in and 5 doubles. The speedy senior has stolen 17 bases in 17 attempts. Sophomore Rylee Chadwick bats .511 with 23 runs scored, and 18 RBIs. The versatile sophomore has slugged 9 doubles, 2 triples and 2 home runs.
Sophomore Kylie Durden bats at a .447 clip with 13 runs scored, 11 RBIs, 4 doubles and 2 triples. Junior Jessalynn Vendrick is hitting .422 with 20 RBIs and 17 runs scored. She has walloped 3 doubles and 3 home runs. Senior Shelby Pharr is batting .440 with 2 triples, and sophomore Mackenzie Singletary has a .378 average.
Chadwick has posted an 8-3 record for the Lady Knights with an earned run average of 3.07 in the circle for the Lady Knights She has 2 saves and 84 strikeouts.
Eastern Randolph won the Class 2A East title in 2019. The Lady Wildcats won the PAC 7 Conference this season with a 12-0 record and is 13-1 overall. Their only loss was to Mid Piedmont 3A champion Southern Alamance.
Sophomore Dori Luther leads the Lady Wildcat hitters with a .625 average and has slammed 4 doubles. Senior Savannah Beaver is batting .526 with 12 runs batted in, 6 doubles, a triple and 2 home runs. Sophomore Skylar Pugh has a .545 average with 17 RBIs, 13 runs scored, 3 doubles and 2 home runs.
Freshman Ayanna Mears bats .533 with a home run. Senior Olivia Hall is hitting .438 with 15 runs scored, 10 RBIs and 5 doubles. Freshman Addie Flinchum has a .344 average with 17 runs scored, 10 RBIs and 4 doubles. Freshman Logann Beaver is hitting .367 average, 10 runs scored, 11 RBIs and 2 home runs.
Savannah Beaver heads the pitching staff with an 11-1 record, 0.98 earned run average, 5 shutouts and 77 strikeouts.
