Junior Michael Hepburn returned the opening kick-off 29 yards to set up the Knight offense at their own 36 yardline. Three plays later, junior quarterback Scott Bowen fired a 16-yard pass to senior T. J. Kemp that put the Knights at the Clinton 45 yardline. However a pass interception ended the drive.

Clinton drove 66 yards in 4 plays. Wright capped the drive with a 4-yard touchdown run. Chandler Perry booted the conversion for a 7-0 lead.

After a Knight punt, the Dark Horses drove 53 yards in 6 plays. Wright caught a 16-yard touchdown pass from Kris Williams, and Perry added the extra point for a 14-0 lead.

The Knights mounted a 57-yard drive on their next possession. Bowen connected with junior halfback B. J. Drake for an 18-yard gain. Drake dashed 9 yards on a run, before Bowen flipped a 7 yard pass to senior Jonathan Ashworth. However, an interception ended the threat.

Three more carries by Drake gained 7, 11 and 5 yards, and a penalty against Clinton moved the ball to the 25, but the Dark Horse defense held on downs at the 26 yardline.
