CERRO GORDO – Senior Rasean McKoy rushed for 251 yards and 2 touchdowns Thursday night to lead East Bladen to a 51-16 Three Rivers Conference football victory over West Columbus.

McKoy also caught a 31-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Zach Meares and ran for a 2-point conversion. Meares completed 5 of 7 passes for 103 yards and 2 touchdowns. Senior Javant McDowell grabbed 2 of Meares’ passes for 55 yards and a touchdown.

Junior Raymond Autry, Jr ran for 38 yards and a touchdown, and junior Tim McLean carried the ball 4 times for 33 yards and a touchdown. East Bladen racked up 463 yards of total offense and 360 yards rushing.

West Columbus scored quickly as Amajae Lowery tossed a 26-yard touchdown pass to Jadakiss Baker for a 6-0 lead in the first 17 seconds of play. Back came the Eagles as Meares capped a 2-minute drive with a 14-yard touchdown pass to McDowell. Meares connected with McDowell again on the 2-point conversion pass to edge East ahead 8-6.

The Eagles struck again as McKoy charged into the end zone from 8 yards out. Meares tossed a 2-point conversion pass to junior Nazire Smith that stretched the lead to 16-6 at the 4:01 mark.

McKoy broke loose and galloped 65 yards for an Eagle touchdown that pushed the lead to 22-6 with 6:45 left in the half. The Vikings recorded a safety 2:41 before halftime to close the gap to 22-8.

East Bladen broke the game open with 2 touchdowns in the final minute of the half. Autry bolted into the end zone from 5 yards out, and McKoy powered into the end zone for the 2-point conversion. The Eagles regained possession and Meares fired the 31-yard TD pass to McKoy 8 seconds before halftime that padded the lead to 36-8.

McLean dashed 17 yards for a 3rd quarter East touchdown, and Autry darted into the end zone for the 2-point conversion and a 44-8 lead.

Junior Javius Brooks put the final Eagle touchdown on the board with a 5-yard run, and Meares kicked the conversion as the lead grew to 51-8 with 11:13 left to play.

Cameron Eady ran 13 yards for the final Viking touchdown, and Nathan Hunt tacked on the 2-point conversion run.

Lowery completed 5 of 17 passes for 73 yards and a Viking touchdown. Da’norie Mack gained 52 yards on 14 rushes to lead the West runners.

Coach Robby Priest’s Eagles improved to 3-2 with the victory and will host Whiteville Monday at 6 p.m.
