RALEIGH – Senior Devin Gardner scored a trio of second-half touchdowns Friday night as Harrells Christian pulled away for a 23-0 victory over North Raleigh Christian.

A 25-yard Crusader field goal with 8:07 left in the second quarter accounted for the only scoring before intermission. Gardner intercepted a North Raleigh pass and raced 75 yards for the first Harrells touchdown with 8:34 remaining in the third period to boost the lead to 10-0.

Gardner banged into the end zone from 4 yards out to push the Crusader lead to 17-0 with 10:45 on the fourth quarter clock. The final Gardner touchdown came on a 6-yard run with 6:04 left to play. The extra point attempt was blocked.

Harrells Christian improved to 2-0 with the win and will host the Carolina Bearcats from Charlotte Friday night at 7:30.
