BLADENBORO – Senior Bishop Brown and junior Antwan Thompson combined to score 5 touchdowns and lead South Brunswick’s Cougars to a 55-6 non-conference football victory over West Bladen Friday night.

The game was the first of the season for the Knights who had games with South Columbus and West Columbus halted by coronavirus protocols.

Brown scored 3 touchdowns and ran for 81 yards on 9 carries. Thompson tallied 2 touchdowns and gained 96 yards on 13 rushes.

Sophomore quarterback Jameson Prince completed 8 of 15 passes for 119 yards and 2 touchdowns for the Cougars who improved to 3-0 with the win.

Knight senior Javontae Matthews intercepted a Cougar pass and returned it 43 yards for the West Bladen touchdown. Matthews led the defense with 14 tackles.

Senior Damarius Robinson ran for 30 yards on 6 attempts and caught 3 passes for another 48 yards to lead the West attack. Senior quarterback Devon Strange completed 8 of 13 passes for 67 yards and suffered 1 interception.

Robinson and Strange also contributed on defense totaling 6 tackles each for the Knights.

West Bladen will visit East Columbus Friday for a 7 p.m. game.
