Senior Lacey Suggs pumped in 22 points, and East Bladen jumped to leads of 23-3 and 37-5 en route to a 57-13 non-conference girls basketball victory at St. Pauls Friday night.

Suggs connected on 4 shots from the field and made 3 of 4 free throws to account for 15 of the Lady Eagles first period points. Senior Abby Ward fired in 2 baskets and hit 2 free throws in the opening quarter as East raced to the 23-3 lead.

Suggs buried a 3-point shot and sank all 4 of her foul shots in the second period to lead a 14-2 Lady Eagle run that grew the halftime lead to 37-5.

Freshman Ja’Tyra Moore-Peterson tossed in a couple of third period baskets, and Ward added a basket and a free throw as the Lady Eagles extended their lead to 47-10.

Senior Christiana Cromartie worked the paint for 4 fourth quarter field goals as the Lady Eagles outscored the Lady Bulldogs 10-3 in the final frame.

Suggs collected 8 steals and 5 assists to go with her game-high point total. Ward just missed a double-double with 10 points, 9 assists and 5 steals.

Cromartie totaled 10 points, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots for the winners. Moore-Peterson finished with 8 points and 2 steals.

Freshman Ashley Hardin and junior Emily Scott shared team rebounding honors with 7 rebounds each. Scott also had 2 steals. Senior Miller Heustess grabbed 4 rebounds and was credited with 4 steals.

Coach Patty Evers’ Lady Eagles improve to 6-0 on the season and will travel to Class 4A Wilmington Ashley Tuesday night.
