DUBLIN – South Brunswick snapped a 27-game losing streak Tuesday night with a 63-41 victory over West Bladen in non-conference girls basketball action.
Morgan Allred and Damacia Thomas Price threw in 6 points each as the Lady Cougars grabbed a 19-13 first quarter lead. Senior Akira Grimes tossed in a couple of baskets for West.
Senior Logan Autry netted one basket and 2 free throws, and senior Laikyn Pait drilled a 3-point shot to keep the Lady Knights close.
Sophmore Erica McKoy and junior Elizabeth Allbright dropped in a basket each, and Autry and Grimes sank 2 free throws each in the second quarter for West Bladen, but South Brunswick widened the gap to 34-22 at halftime.
Grimes fired in 2 baskets and a free throw in the third quarter, and Autry drained a pair of baskets. However the South Brunswick lead grew to 49-34.
Allred led all scorers with 22 points for South Brunswick. Price, Abigail Spivey and Tyler Wells tallied 9 points each.
Autry topped the Lady Knight scoring with 12 points and Grimes was right behind her with 11. Pait finished with 6 points.
The Lady Knights, now 1-2, will travel to West Columbus Wednesday.
