ELIZABETHTOWN – T. J. Eichelberger and Tallya Council combined for 30 points Tuesday to lead unbeaten St. Pauls to a 56-31 Three Rivers Conference girls basketball victory over East Bladen.

 

Sophomore Jakieya Thompson scored 7 of her 12 points for the Lady Bulldogs in the opening quarter as St. Pauls built a 15-5 lead. Junior Mya McDonald and senior Katie Evans threw in baskets for East Bladen in the quarter, and junior Alexus Mitchell hit a free throw.

Eichelberger drained a pair of 3-balls, another basket and 2 free throws to keep the Lady Bulldogs up 29-18 at halftime. Sophomore AnnaGrey Heustess pumped in 2 baskets for East in the period. McDonald tossed in a basket and 2 free throws, Mitchell and sophomore Maegan Burney popped in a basket each, and Mitchell tacked on a free throw.

 

Tallya Council rang up 10 of her 14 points in the 2nd half for the Lady Bulldogs. Eichelberger tallied 6 of her game-high 16.

 

Mitchell fired in a 3-ball and 2 other baskets in the 2nd half and led the Lady Eagles with 11 points. McDonald pumped in a basket and a free throw and finished with 9 points. Sophomore Karli Priest flipped in a basket, and freshman Zoe Smith canned a free throw.

 

East Bladen, now 3-2 in league play and 6-2 overall, will travel to Fairmont on Feb. 17th for a 5 p.m. game.
