Junior Cassie Hill fired in two goals to lead East Bladen to a 3-0 non-conference girls soccer victory over visiting North Brunswick Friday.

In the tenth minute, sophmore Hannah DeVane launched a free kick from 30 yards out that sailed over the North Brunswick defenders, and Hill worked her way behind the defenders to tap it in.

Ten minutes later junior Maddie West was on a break-away and was taken down in the box. Devane drilled the penalty kick into the net for a 2-0 Lady Eagle lead.

“They had some solid scoring chances but Claire Campbell, Ting Lin, and goalkeeper Kathryn Cole turned them away,” said East Bladen Coach Jay Raynor.  Cole, a senior, made 3 diving saves and totaled 8 saves in the match.

Hill knocked in her second goal midway through the second half.

“We played hard especially considering it was our third game in five days,” continued Coach Raynor. “The girls worked hard and never quit.  North Brunswick played a majority of the game on our half (of the field) but we kept them out the net.”

Raynor added, “It wasn’t the prettiest at times and we have some things to improve on but to score thirteen goals this week and only give up one says a lot.”

The Lady Eagles remain undefeated at 3-0 and will travel to Red Springs Monday for a 5 p.m. game.
