With four minutes remaining, freshman Katie Evans converted an assist from Devane into a goal and a 5-1 East lead.

“I thought everyone played extremely well, and everyone seemed to adhere to their role as well as have fun,” said East Bladen Coach Jay Raynor. “I saw and heard teammates helping exhort each other – the returning players helping the new players.

“I saw a lot of good things and one or two things that we need to clean up and work on,” continued Raynor. “The focus, the energy, and the positive environment that we created was pretty cool. The game was a step in the right direction for this group.”

Raynor went on to praise the efforst of his backline (Ting Lin, Cybil Campbell, Izzy Smith, Ashton Magby), his midfielders (Sara and Ashley), and the attacking players (Katie, Kenia, Hannah, Patience, and Gracyn Martin)

“They all adhered to the game plan, played the way we have trained, and helped one another,” added Coach Raynor.
