WHITEVILLE — Seniors Kaitlyn Hasty and Emmy Williams knocked in goals to lead Whiteville to a 2-1 non-conference girls’ soccer victory over West Bladen Friday night. Freshman Leslie Pham had an assist for the Lady Wolfpack.
West Bladen (1-2) will visit South Columbus Monday. Whiteville, now 1-6, will host Heide Trask Tuesday.
Junior O’Mara McDonald fired in the Lady Knight goal off an assist from junior Jazmy Funez Aranda. McDonald had 2 shots on goal, and sophomore Faith Wren had a shot on goal.
Junior Ashley Sanchez-Resendiz sparked the West defense with 9 steals. Runez Aranda came up with 8 steals. Wren and junior Anna Campbell finished with 7 steals each. Sophomore Makenna Thurman recorded 6 steals, McDonald tallied 5 steals and junior Yareth Garcia Perez had 4 steals.
Senior Briana Carranza Toledo posted 2 saves in goal for the Lady Knights.
