LORIS, SC – For the 1st time this season, Whiteville did not win the weekly Waccamaw Conference golf match. South Columbus compiled a 357 total on their 4 scores Monday to finish 4 strokes ahead of the Wolfpack’s 361 total at Diamondback Golf Club.

East Columbus placed 3rd with a 398 total followed by West Columbus (402) and East Bladen (418). Heide Trask had only 3 players competing and did not qualify for the team competition.

Whiteville’s Marc Rich earned medalist honors Monday with an 83 that was a stroke better than South Columbus’ Logan Hamilton’s 84. East Columbus’ Caden Carroll carded an 86 to finish 3rd.

Senior Payton Tatum shot a 100 to lead the East Bladen golfers. Other Eagles and their scores were: Henry Simmons (101), Zac Metz (102) and Connor Smith (109).

Whiteville will represent the Waccamaw in the regionals as the top 2A seed due to their better average score over the 8 tournaments. East Bladen will be the top 1A Waccamaw seed due to their 416 average that placed them ahead of East Columbus (421) and West Columbus (425).

The Class 1A MidEast Regional will be played at Lane Tree Golf Club in Goldsboro on Monday, May 6th and will be hosted by Rosewood High School.
