TAR HEEL – Hallsboro swept both ends of a Waccamaw Middle School Conference baseball double-header from Tar Heel Thursday by scores of 5-3 and 7-6.

Hallsboro used a pair of extra-base hits to score a pair of first-inning runs then added 2 more runs in the second inning and one in the third to build a 5-0 lead.

The Panthers scored all 3 of their runs in the home third. Lucas Davis walked, and I’Keir Murchison belted a single. Destin Montgomery walked, and Davis, Murchison and Montgomery all scored.

Murchison and Nolan Sessoms connected for one hit each. Murchison, Montgomery and Davis scored runs.  Montgomery pitched 5 innings and allowed 5 runs on 4 hits and 5 walks while striking out six.

Hallsboro capitalized on ten walks and 5 hits to score their 7 runs in the second game.

Tar Heel jumped on top with 5 first-inning runs. Murchison reached base on a passed third strike and Montgomery was hit by a pitch. Jordan Underwood knocked in Murchison and Montgomery with a double.

Jordan Bryan walked, and Purnell Hooper laced a single that scored Underwood. Sessoms drove in Bryan and Hooper with a single.

C. J. Waddell doubled and scored in the Tiger second inning, and 5 walks and hits by Junior Stewart and Aaron Mitchell produced 5 runs in the third for the Tigers.

Bryan walked and scored a third inning run for Tar Heel.

The teams remained tied 6-6 until Waddell walked and Lewis doubled him home with the winning run in the fifth inning. Waddell and Lewis led the Tiger hitters with a double each. Stewart and Mitchell had one hit each.

Underwood batted 2-4 with 2 runs batted in and scored a run. Montgomery doubled and scored a run. Hooper and Sessoms added one hit each. Sessoms drove in 2 runs, and Hooper had an rbi. Bryan scored twice, and Murchison and Hooper scored one run each.

Tar Heel will host Bladenboro Monday.
