HUDSON – Former East Bladen star Jacob Nixon fired in five 3-point shots and scored a season-high 15 points Saturday to lead No. 25 Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute to a 96-85 victory over USC-Salkehatchie in Region X men’s basketball action.

Nixon has scored in 14 of the 18 games that he has played for the Cobras and averages 5.5 points per game. The freshman guard is shooting 48% from 3-point range connecting on 30 of his 63 3-point attempts.

Highlights for the season include: 12 points in a 97-83 win over Catawba Valley; 9 points in a 99-80 victory over Sandhills Community; 9 points in an 85-81 win over Wake Tech; 8 points in another 115-86 victory over Catawba Valley; 8 points in a 96-63 win over Wayne County Community.

In his only start of the season, Nixon scored 7 points on 3 of 4 shooting and grabbed 2 rebounds in a 96-82 victory over Hagerstown Community College.

The Cobras have rolled to a perfect 6-0 record in Region X play and are 18-1 overall losing only to Indian River State College 126-120 in November. The 18-1 record has earned the Cobras a No. 25 ranking nationally in the latest NJCAA Division I poll.

The Cobras will host Gaston College Wednesday at 6 p.m.
