WHITEVILLE — Fifty teams teed it up New Year’s day to compete in The Collard Open at Land O’ Lakes Golf Course. The popular event drew players from all over southeastern North Carolina and accepted the maximun number of 50 teams and 100 players. The format was two-player scramble.
The team of Jake Womble from White Lake and Will Fisher from Elizabethtown shot 14-under to best the team of Luke Gooden and Blake Baysden, who fired 13-under par. Coming in third place, with a score of 9-under was Kevin Page and Tom Burwick.
