BLADENBORO – West Brunswick swept a pair of close decisions from West Bladen 3-1 and 6-4 Thursday night in Junior American Legion Baseball action.

The visitors bunched 2 hits, an error, a walk and a hit batter to score all 3 of their runs in the 2nd inning of their 3-1 victory in the opener. Cade Allen blasted a triple and scored the only run for West Bladen in the bottom of the second.

Brady Durdin started on the mound for the Knights and was followed to the hill by Allister Russ and Garrett Dunham. They combined to issue 7 walks and hit 2 batters while striking out 2 and giving up 2 hits.

Five West Brunswick batters drew walks in the 1st inning of the nightcap and 3 of them scored. A walk and an error led to 2 more Trojan runs in the 3rd inning, and the visitors added a run in the 4th inning.

Bryce Fuller reached base on an error in the West Bladen first and scored when Dunham ripped a double. Hunter Smith knocked in Dunham with a single. Dunham walked and Smith reached on an error in the Knight 4th inning. Both of them came around to score.

Smith, Fuller and Allen shared the West Bladen pitching duties and combined to walk 9 batters while only allowing 1 hit and striking out three.

West Bladen will be idle next week but will host Purnell Swett on Tuesday, May 31st.
