CERRO GORDO – East Bladen scored the 1st 6 runs, and West Columbus scored the final 6 runs including 3 in their last at-bat as the teams battled to a 6-6 tie Thursday in Waccamaw Conference jayvee baseball action.

Coach James Ben Daly’s Eagles are now 6-0-2 in conference play and 7-1-3 overall. East Bladen will visit Hobbton Monday. The Vikings are 2-2-1 in Waccamaw play and 2-5-1 overall.

Four walks, 3 wild pitches and an error produced the 3 Viking runs in the 6th inning that tied the game. Noah Nobles walked, Cody Loomis’ singled, and Trenton Christian walloped a 2-run triple in the West 4th inning. Christian later scored on an error.

Zach Sholar lined a single to left to start the game, stole 2 bases and scored the 1st Eagle run as Isaiah Lee reached base on an error.

Sholar was hit by a pitch to begin East Bladen’s 4-run 3rd inning. Colton Daly reached base on an error, and Lee scorched a single to left that scored Sholar. Jaxon Hair ripped a single to left field that scored Rex Register, the courtesy runner for Daly. An error on the play scored Lee. Easton Bostic yanked a single to left that scored Hair and put the Eagles up 5-0.

Daly reached base on an error in the East 4th inning. Register who was running for Daly advanced on 2 wild pitches as Lee walked. Another error scored Register to put the Eagles ahead 6-0.

Braylon Cromartie doubled and Sholar, Lee, Hair and Bostic delivered 1 single each. Sholar and Register scored 2 runs each, and Lee and Hair scored 1 run each. Lee drove in 2 runs, and Bostic and Hair drove in 1 run each.

Cromartie started on the hill and pitched 5 innings allowing 4 runs – 3 earned – on 2 hits and 5 walks while striking out 4. Tyler Eason worked 0.2 innings of relief and allowed 2 runs – 1 earned – on 3 walks while striking out 1. Hair pitched a scoreless, hitless 0.1 innings.

Loomis started and pitched 3.1 innings for WC allowing 6 runs – 2 earned – on 4 hits and 4 walks while striking out 3. Brayden Nance worked 2.2 innings of 1 hit scoreless relief and struck out 2 while walking 1.

Christian’s 2-run triple led the Viking hitters.
