WHITEVILLE –Darius Williamson blasted a 2-run triple to tie the game then scored the go-ahead run as East Bladen rallied for a 6-5 Three Rivers Conference jayvee baseball victory over Whiteville Friday.

The Wolfpack carried a 5-3 lead into the 7th inning, but Weston Hatcher and Zamar Lewis belted 1-out singles. Williamson knocked both of them in with his triple then dashed home with the go-ahead run when Parker Greene launched a sacrifice fly.

Whiteville had taken the lead with a 3-run outburst in the 6th inning when they bunched 4 hits with an error.

Lee Barnes pitched a complete game 7-hitter to pick up the win for the Eagles allowing 5 runs – 2 earned – while striking out 2 and walking one. Five of the 7 Wolfpack hits came in the final 2 innings.

The Eagles scored first in the 2nd inning. Williamson walked, and Greene smashed a single. Barnes delivered a 2-out single that scored Williamson. Whiteville tied the game on a hit and a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the inning.

East Bladen went back on top with 2 runs in the 4th inning. Britt Sasser smacked a 2-out single, and Barnes walked. Jmarius Smith and Marian Davis connected for back-to-back run-scoring singles that put the Eagles on top 3-1.

Whiteville closed the gap to 3-2 in the home 4th using an error and a single.

Lewis batted 2-4 with a double and a run scored to lead the Eagle batters. Williamson walloped the 2-run triple and scored twice. Davis, Barnes, and Smith delivered RBI singles. Greene, Hatcher, and Sasser added one hit each. Greene drove in a run, and Hatcher, Sasser, and Barnes scored runs for the winners.

Coach Kenzil McCall’s Eagles remained unbeaten at 6-0 with the victory and will travel to South Columbus Tuesday.
