BLADENBORO — Bryson Hester pitched a 3-hitter and struck out 3 batters Thursday to lead Lumberton to a 10-2 non-conference jayvee baseball victory over West Bladen.

The Knight jayvees, now 1-5-1, are scheduled to be idle until April 9th when they travel to Midway. Midway and West Bladen are the only 2 jayvee baseball teams in the Southeastern Athletic Conference.

A walk, an error, a passed ball and a wild pitch produced 2 Lumberton runs in the 1st inning. Jonah Bryan drew a lead-off walk in the bottom of the inning, stole 2nd base and raced home when Chase Bryan lined a single to center field.

The Knights scored again in the 5th inning. Aidan Trinidad drew a lead-off walk but was forced at 2nd by Jonah Bryan. Chase Bryan reached base on an error that scored Jonah Bryan.

Cayden Moore batted 2-for-3 to lead the Knight hitters. Chase Bryan cracked the run-scoring single, and Jonah Bryan scored 2 runs.

Weston Hilburn started on the hill for West and pitched 2 innings allowing 5 runs – 3 earned – on a hit and 2 walks while striking out 2. Trinidad pitched 2 innings of relief and allowed 3 runs on 4 hits. Caison Brixey gave up 2 runs – 1 earned – on 3 hits and a walk in the 5th inning.

Jayden Phillips batted 2-for-4 with a run batted in. Caiden Hall doubled, drove in a run and scored 3 runs. Rodney Jacobs singled and scored 3 runs and Brennan Griffin singled, scored twice and had an RBI.
