ROSE HILL – Trey Storms pitched a two-hit shutout as West Bladen shut out Union 10-0 on Tuesday in the first Four County Conference junior varsity baseball game for both teams.

Storms struck out three and walked two in notching the win in a game that was stopped after four innings because of the 10-run rule.

Caleb Sholar was 2-for-3 with a double, run scored and three runs batted in to lead the West Bladen offense. Dalton Pait and Storms added a hit and two runs batted in. Ian Sykes was 1-for-2 with a pair of runs scored. Leadoff batter T.J. Guyton was twice hit by a pitch and reached on a dropped third strike, and scored all three times. Brandon Strange, Jonathan Robinson, Derrick Long and Cameron Peterson each scored once.

The Knights scored single runs in the first and second innings. In the first, Guyton was hit by a pitch, stole second, moved to third on a balk and scored on Jeremy Pait’s one-out ground out. In the second, Storms led off with a single, courtesy-runner Long went to third on a wild pickoff attempt and scored on Sholar’s double to right.

West Bladen scored four runs in each of the third and fourth innings.

In the third, Storms drove home Guyton on a ground out, Sykes singled and later scored on a wild pitch, Robinson was hit by a pitch and later scored on Sholar’s second double. Sholar then scored on Pait’s two-out single down the third base line.

In the fourth, the Knights scored four times without a hit, using two hit batters, a pair of errors, two walks and two fielder’s choice to plate their runs.

West Bladen, 3-2 overall and 1-0 in league play, is scheduled to play at Wallace-Rose Hill on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
