ELIZABETHTOWN — West Bladen and East Bladen both rallied in the final inning, but neither could pull out the win Tuesday as the rivals battled to a 4-4 tie in their non-conference jayvee baseball game.

The 2 teams are scheduled to play again Friday at 4 p.m. at West, but the Knights have a non-conference game with East Columbus slated for Wednesday. The Knight jayvees are now 1-0-1, while the Eagles are 0-1-1.

East Bladen cruised into the 5th inning with a 3-1 lead, but the Knights fought back with 3 runs. Jonah Bryan, Chase Bryan, Tyler Lewis and Weston Hilburn all drew 2-out walks with Hilburn’s walk forcing home Jonah Bryan. Ryan Dove belted a double to left that scored Chase Bryan and Lewis and vaulted West in front 4-3.

The Eagles answered in the home 5th. Colton Daly slammed a double to right field, and courtesy runner Cade Rogers advanced on a wild pitch and darted home on a passed ball to tie the game 4-4. The game was stopped by the time limit after the 5th inning.

Jonah Bryan lashed a double to left in the Knight 3rd inning and dashed home as Chase Bryan reached base on an error for a 1-0 West lead.

J.D. McArthur was hit by a pitch in the Eagle half of the 3rd and advanced on an error and Braylon Cromartie’s sacrifice before scoring on another error. Zach Sholar was hit by a pitch and circled the bases on a stolen base, an error and a passed 3rd strike to edge East ahead 2-1.

Torrean Cogdell was hit by pitch in the East 4th inning, dashed to 3rd base on Jaxon Hair’s single and scored on a passed ball to pad the Eagle lead to 3-1.

Daly doubled and Hair singled for the only East Bladen hits. Sholar, Rogers, Cogdell and McArthur scored runs.

Cromartie pitched 4.2 innings and allowed 3 runs – 2 earned – on a hit and 3 walks while striking out 4. Easton Bostic worked 0.1 innings of relief and gave up an earned run on 2 walks and a hit.

Jonah Bryan and Ryan Dove slammed doubles for the only West Bladen hits. Dove drove in 2 runs, and Hilburn had 1 RBI. Jonah Bryan scored twice, and Chase Bryan and Lewis scored 1 run each.

Lewis pitched 3 hitless innings and gave up 3 runs – 2 earned – while walking 2 and striking out 5. Grayson Freeman worked a scoreless inning of relief and allowed a hit and a walk while striking out 1. Hilburn gave up an earned run on a hit and a walk in his inning of relief while striking out 2.
