ELIZABETHTOWN — East Bladen scored the first 11 points and rolled past Clinton 38-22 on Tuesday night in a Southeastern Athletic Conference junior varsity boys basketball game.

Malikah Moore led the East Bladen offense with nine points. Chace Butler and Ronnie Covington each scored eight points.

The Eagles wasted no time in taking command. Moore opened the first-quarter spurt with a bucket and ended it with a lay-up off a pass from Covington. In between, East Bladen got a pair of baskets from Covington, a lay-up by Kewane Manor and a free throw by Shannon Hawkins in the opening four minutes for an 11-0 lead

Clinton cut it to 13-8 on a 3-pointer by Camden Davis to open the second quarter, but the Eagles scored the next seven, capped by a driving jumper from Butler, that made it 20-8 with 2:16 left in the second quarter.

Two baskets each from Covington and Butler in the third quarter helped East Bladen open a 28-15 lead.

East Bladen built its biggest lead at 36-18 on a free throw by Manor with 2:39 remaining.

Davis led Clinton with eight points.

East Bladen is 6-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play. The Eagles will host county rival West Bladen on Friday with tip scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
