ELIZABETHTOWN – East Bladen pulled away with a 26-11 2nd half surge and defeated West Bladen 38-17 Tuesday night in Southeastern Athletic Conference jayvee boys basketball action.

Shannon Hankins fired in a 3-point shot and scored all 7 of his points during a 14-5 3rd quarter East spurt that opened up a 26-11 lead. Darius Williamson, Kewone Maynor and Chris Harding all threw in Eagle baskets during the run.

Sherman Long drained a 3-point shot and another basket in the final period, and Zac Metz tossed in 2 baskets. Metz and Williamson followed Hankins with 6 points each for East. Long finished with 5 points, and Peyton Tatum added 4.

Noah Hall and Garrett Dunham shared scoring honors for the Knights with 6 points each. Dunham scored all 6 of his points after halftime. Hall netted 3 points in the 2nd period, and Cade Allen buried a 1st quarter 3-ball.

Coach Aking Elting’s Eagles improved to 4-2 with the victory and will host West Columbus Thursday. The Knights will visit Fairmont Friday.
