FAIRMONT – Calvin J. nailed a corner 3-ball to begin the overtime period, and his Fairmont teammates connected on 8 of 12 foul shots in the extra period to pull out a 37-31 Southeastern Athletic Conference jayvee boys’ basketball victory over West Bladen Tuesday.

Damarion Bryant sank 3 straight free throws in the overtime, and Sayvion Covington buried a corner 3-ball, but the Knights never got closer than 5 points in the final 1:14.

Bryant made a free throw with 1 second left in regulation to tie the game, and the Tornadoes survived a pair of missed free throws to reach the extra period.

Jamari Adams topped all scorers with 14 points. Bryant followed with 8 points. Tariq L. led Fairmont with 11 points.

Ayden Williams and Bryant drained 3-point shots to keep West within 12-9 at halftime. Adams tossed in a basket, and Justin Spaulding added a free throw in the 1st half.

Adams tossed in a pair of baskets, and Bryant canned a free throw as the Knights whittled the Fairmont lead to 16-14. Adams lit up the scoreboard with 4 baskets in the final quarter, and Keonta Hill dropped in a lay-up off of a JaQuan Lesane assist that edged West in front 24-22.

The Knight jayvees are now 5-4 in SAC play and 8-9 overall. West Bladen will conclude their jayvee season Friday at home against Red Springs.
