RED SPRINGS – Red Springs rallied back from an early 12-2 deficit and edged West Bladen 33-32 Friday night in Three Rivers Conference jayvee boys basketball action.

Javontae Matthews drained a 3-point basket and a 2-point shot as the Knights raced to an early 12-2 lead. Teammate Travail Baldwin buried a 3-point shot, and Keshawn Ballard and Anthony Mitchell threw in baskets.

Mitchell, Anthony Cowan and Devin Strange pumped in baskets to keep the Knights on top 18-17 at halftime. Baldwin, Matthews, Ballard and Amir Stepps tossed in third period baskets to keep West within 27-26 at the quarter break.

Ballard and Matthews sank 2 free throws each in the final quarter, Mitchell popped in another basket, but Red Springs escaped with the win.

The Knights, now 2-2 on the season, will host East Columbus on Tuesday night.
