Union’s jayvees rallied in the second half and rode a huge advantage at the foul line to a 46-42 Four County Conference boys basketball victory at East Bladen Tuesday night.

The Spartans connected on 18 of 45 free throw attempts, while the Eagles made 5 of their 13 free throw shots.

Darrell Banks bombed in a 3-point shot, and guard Messiah Leach threw in a basket and a free throw to keep the Eagles within 8-7 at the first quarter break.

Freshman Greyson Heustess, Anthony Wooten and Xavier Wooten nailed 3-point shots for East Bladen in the second period. Another Heustess basket gave the Eagles an 18-13 hafltime lead.

Xavier Wooten fired in 8 third quarter points for East, and Anthony Wooten added a basket, but Union edged in front 29-28.

Heustess drained another 3-point shot and racked up 10 of his team-high 15 points for the Eagles in the final quarter. However Union made just enough free throws to hang on for the win.

Xavier Wooten finished with 14 points for East Bladen, and Anthony Wooten and Banks followed with 5 points each.

The Eagle jayvees will conclude their season Thursday night when they host West Bladen.
