BLADENBORO – West Bladen raced to an 18-6 halftime lead en route to a 32-19 non-conference jayvee boys basketball victory over Clinton Friday night.
Javontae Matthews and Anthony Mitchell drained 3-point shots, and Keshawn Ballard tossed in a basket and a free throw as the Knights took a 9-4 first quarter lead.
Matthews threw in a basket and a free throw, and Mitchell, Travail Baldwin and Anthony Cowan pumped in baskets during a 9-2 second period run by West.
Baldwin and Ballard dropped in baskets to keep the Knight lead at 23-14. Matthews sank 4 free throws in the final quarter, and Ballard and Keshawn Ballard added baskets.
Matthews topped the Knight scoring with 10 points. Ballard followed with 7 points, and Mitchell totaled 6 points.
Coach Jason Hemingway’s Knights evened their record at 3-3 with the victory. West Bladen will host Whiteville Friday night.
