RED SPRINGS – Freshman Geo Reyes knocked in the deciding goal that lifted East Bladen to a 3-2 Southeastern Athletic Conference junior varsity boys’ soccer victory over Red Springs Wednesday.

Red Springs had rallied from a 2-0 halftime deficit to tie the game before Reyes teamed up with freshman Zach Sholar for the game-winner with 19 minutes remaining. “Geo worked a beautiful give-and-go with Zach then dribbled the keeper to put us up 3-2,” said Eagle Coach Jay Raynor.

In the 7th minute of play, Sholar sent an assist to sophomore Connor Paddrick off of a free kick, and Paddrick knocked in the 1st goal of the game.

Sophomore Marco Ventura stretched the Eagle lead to 2-0 with an outside the foot shot from 35 yards out. Sholar was credited with 2 assists for East. The Eagles outshot Red Springs 13-10.

East Bladen, now 1-3, is scheduled to travel to Heide Trask Thursday.
