Whiteville completed a long touchdown pass for the winning score and defeated West Bladen 18-14 in non-conference junior varsity football action at Whiteville Thursday night.
The Knights responded by driving inside the Whiteville 15 yard line in the closing seconds, but a fumbled snap – the third lost fumble for West Bladen in the game- ended the threat.
“We had our chances,” said West Bladen Coach Kris Williams. “Just too many mistakes.”
Kerron Washington and Da’Quan Smith scored the West Bladen touchdowns.
It was the first game of the season for the Knights.
