DUNN – An 11-3 third-quarter spurt carried Midway to a 31-20 victory over West Bladen on Monday night in the non-conference jayvee girls basketball opener for both teams.
Freshman Makayla Wright fired in a trio of baskets to keep West Bladen within 12-9 at halftime. Wright topped the Lady Knight scoring with 8 points.
Kirsten Warrick bombed in a 3-point shot in the final period and finished with 5 points for West, and teammate Anniya Phillips scored all 4 of her points in the fourth quarter.
